SUPERIOR Story

In 1986, Superior recognized that the American industry's growing appetite for protective coating products was on a collision course with America's growing concern for the environment.

We knew that it would be difficult for conventional solvent and water based products to meet industries growing demands for better protection, and at the same time comply with increasingly stiff environmental and safety regulations.

As a result, we set out to develop a carefully engineered, 100% solids coating product that would provide better and broader-based protection than conventional products, be easy to apply and safe for the user and the environment. As a result we developed a complete line of products that met this criteria.

Superior focused its research on novolac resins because of their inherently superior chemical and heat resistance and their freedom from volatiles. After several years work, we developed the technology needed to cure novolac resins at ambient temperatures and to control the cure in such a way that the resulting polymer developed the properties essential for usable coating products.
